It’s fine to clean your hearing aids as recommended by your audiologist, but you may want to clean them more often than usual during the coronavirus outbreak.
Your hearing aid should be cleaned in the way your audiologist told you, or you can follow our guidance to cleaning your hearing aids.
Avoid using chemicals
Do not use bleach or alcohol on your hearing aids as it could damage them.
Just as you normally would, you should avoid using any chemicals to clean your hearing aids.
How often to clean your hearing aid
You can clean behind-the-ear hearing aids every other day, and clean in-the-ear hearing aids every day.
Keeping your hands clean
It’s very important to keep your hands clean during the coronavirus outbreak. We recommend you wash your hands before and after cleaning your hearing aid.
You can follow NHS guidance on how to wash your hands properly.
