Our Volunteer Fundraising group in Northern Ireland successfully hosted another quiz night in November, raising an amazing £1500 for our Befriending Service.
The event was led by volunteer Ken Taylor, supported by other fundraising volunteers, and took place at the Maldron Hotel at Belfast International Airport.
80 people attended the evening, including many from the deaf and hearing loss community. Guests also took part in a raffle, and our brave Fundraising Assistant Roz got her head shaved, raising an additional £760!
All proceeds will go to Action on Hearing Loss’ Befriending Service, which supports elderly isolated people who are deaf or have a hearing loss by matching them with a Befriending volunteer who visits them on a regular basis.
Claire Lavery, Northern Ireland Director at Action on Hearing Loss, said: “A great night organised by our volunteer fundraising group, we are delighted that £1500 has been raised to support our Befriending Service, which offers vital support to older people at risk of isolation because of their hearing loss”.
