National charity Action on Hearing Loss has appointed two new members to its senior management team.
James Abbott joined the charity as an Executive Director of Finance in March, while Tim Willett will start on 8 April as an Interim Executive Director of Fundraising, Marketing and Communications.
James brings with him vast experience of financial charity management gained at organisations such as Diabetes UK, the National Foundation for Educational Research and, most recently, Scope, where he was Head of Finance.
He is a strong believer in building value-adding finance teams, closely aligned with the organisations they support, enabling charities to go further and do more for the people they exist to serve.
James Abbott said: “I am delighted to be joining Action on Hearing Loss at this critical time. Having just relocated most of the finance function to our offices in Peterborough, I am thrilled to be building a new sector-leading team, which will efficiently and effectively support and drive forward our organisation. I am also excited to play a key role in delivering the charity’s financial turnaround plan, addressing the pressure on our liquidity and growing our income. The successful delivery of this plan is essential to ensuring that Action on Hearing Loss continues to be there for the millions of people who have hearing loss or who are deaf.”
Tim Willett is an independent consultant, implementing sustainable funding strategies for not for profit organisations after eight years at the RNLI. While at the RNLI he held various roles delivering fundraising intelligence and improvement before ultimately becoming the Head of Funding Strategy.
He has a blended background with significant experience from both the commercial and charitable sectors and attributes his successes to building, leading and motivating cross-functional teams to deliver outstanding results.
Tim Willett said: “I am delighted to be joining Action on Hearing Loss at such challenging but exciting time in the organisation’s history. Good communication is so vital in everyday life, and changing so rapidly, it is a wonderful opportunity to work for an organisation that helps an often overlooked community. Action on Hearing loss works hard to enable communication, inspire human connections and build inclusion – who wouldn’t want to be a part of that?”
